Frequently Asked Questions

  • Are you open during bird, bear, and moose hunting season?

Yes! Our cabin is located in Maine Wildlife Management District (WMD) 10, in the heart of the Katahdin Region—one of Maine's premier destinations for outdoor recreation and hunting. The area is surrounded by thousands of acres of forestland, extensive dirt road networks, and abundant wildlife, making it an excellent base camp for bird, bear, and moose hunters.

  • Are you located close to Gulf Hagas and Baxter State Park?

Absolutely. We are located approximately 45 minutes from the Gulf Hagas trailhead, often referred to as the "Grand Canyon of Maine." Baxter State Park is about 60 minutes away and offers some of Maine's most spectacular hiking opportunities, including popular destinations such as the Ice Caves and Blueberry Ledges trails. The Baxter State Park headquarters in Millinocket is a great stop for trail maps, current conditions, and recommendations from park staff.

  • Are you located near snowmobile trails?

Yes! Our property is located directly on Maine's ITS snowmobile trail system, providing convenient access to some of the best snowmobiling in the state. The Ebeemee Snowmobile Club is located just two miles away and connects riders to renowned trail systems throughout the region, including Jo-Mary, Shin Pond, and the broader Katahdin trail network.

  • Are there places nearby to rent boats or kayaks?

Yes. The Good Guide in Millinocket offers boat rentals, guided moose tours, and a variety of outdoor recreation experiences. For guests staying at the cabin, we provide four kayaks free of charge and highly recommend taking an early morning or sunset paddle to experience the incredible scenery and wildlife on Ebeemee Lake.

  • Is there high-speed internet at the cabin?

Yes. We offer reliable high-speed Starlink internet throughout the property, making it easy to stream movies, work remotely, or stay connected during your stay. The cabin is equipped with smart TVs that support popular streaming apps, and cell service in the area is generally very good.

  • Is there direct waterfront access and a private dock?

Yes. The cabin features direct waterfront access on beautiful Ebeemee Lake, complete with a private dock for swimming, fishing, kayaking, and boating. Guests can enjoy stunning lake and mountain views right from the property and experience all that lakeside living in northern Maine has to offer.

  • Is the cabin accessible year-round, including winter?

Yes. The cabin is accessible year-round, including winter months. Like much of the Katahdin Region, winter brings snow and icy conditions, so we recommend a reliable AWD or 4WD vehicle during the winter season. The area is well-traveled by snowmobilers and outdoor enthusiasts throughout the winter.

  • How are the road conditions to the property?

The cabin is located on a well-maintained rural road typical of the Maine North Woods. The final stretch is a classic Maine gravel road, which is easily passable in normal conditions. During mud season or heavy snow, conditions can vary, so we recommend driving cautiously and checking weather before arrival.

  • Are pets allowed at the cabin?

Pets are not permitted at this property. We strive to maintain a clean, allergy-conscious, and well-maintained environment for all guests. We appreciate your understanding and can recommend nearby pet-friendly stays if needed.

  • Can you swim in Ebeemee Lake?

Yes. Ebeemee Lake is great for swimming, especially during the summer months. The water is clean, refreshing, and ideal for cooling off after a day of hiking or exploring. Guests can access the lake directly from the property, and many enjoy swimming right off the dock.

  • Where is the nearest place to get groceries, gas, and supplies?

The closest full-service options are located in Brownville Junction and Milo, approximately 20–30 minutes away. For larger grocery stores, restaurants, and additional services, Millinocket is about an hour away and serves as the main hub for the Katahdin Region.

Thank you so much for sharing your cozy, beautiful home with us. We had a wonderful time visiting with family and friends, who also have cabins on this special lake. I hope to come back again in the summer to see all Ebeemee has to offer in warmer months.

Lindsay, Gerrett & Gage

This place is so beautiful and I’m so excited that we got to stay! My only regret is not being able to stay longer. The fishing was great! We caught pickerel, sunfish and chub. Our little guy LOVED it. Thank you so much for the use of the kayaks - we got to watch osprey, deer and catch frogs. We even got to see a moose in our kayak on the other side of the lake. This place is truly incredible and we can’t say enough good things about it.

Pamela & Scott

We can't tell you enough how much we appreciated the use of your beautiful home. While here on a bear hunt it was so nice after hunting all day to have this place to come home to! We will be back! Thanks again.
